The 76th meeting of TIGS was held at Ashridge G.C. on Friday July 23rd in near perfect golfing weather with temperatures in the mid 70’s and a little wind.
Our
lowest turnout of the season with 20 members and 5 guests was disappointing
considering the good weather and the excellence of the course – it was in
super condition.
A
new member, Alan Pullen from Palace Chemicals Ltd, a 14 handicapper from
Upavon Golf Club in Wiltshire won on his first TIGS appearance with 38pts,
beating both Ashley Heath and Chris Harris with a better back
nine. Our handicap secretary promptly reduced Alan and Ashley’s handicaps to
11. Fourth came Michael Heath with 36 pts, also beating Greg Hammond
with a better back nine.
Alan
became TIGS’s 44th different winner in 76 events.
Winning
visitor was Dave Nelson’s guest Graham Townsend with 38pts beating Stephen
Haigh’s guest Darren Emmerson, also with a better back nine.
Fred
Gregg,
Geoff Snape & Steve Harrison with 37pts, won yellow ball team
prize.
Nearest
the pin prizes went to Mick Boulton and Geoff Snape and longest
drive to Steve McCall’s guest Gerry Farrell.
My
thanks must go to Geoff Snape for obtaining the prizes, Gary Hardy
for checking the cards and Dave Nelson for handling the finances on the
day.
