The Harvey Chew Memorial Trophy

The 91st meeting of TIGS, and the fifth of our 18th season, was held at Little Aston Golf Club on Friday 11th August 2006. It was a pleasant day – cool and quite breezy at first, but warmer and less windy later on.

Little Aston is one of the best inland parkland courses in the UK, ranked 48th in the Golf World survey of UK courses. It has 96 well-placed bunkers, some of them enormous (believe me). The greens were excellent; the holes were cut well in difficult positions.

Our winner with 38 points was Michael Heath, a previous winner of the Trophy. Michael was four points clear of joint-second placed Greg Hammond who had a better back nine than Geoff Snape.

Following a presentation of the Trophy to Michael, one of our past-Captains (Mick Boulton) proposed a toast to our late member Harvey Chew.
