The H&R Johnson Trophy |
March
2005.
The 80th meeting of TIGS, and the first of our 17th season, was held at Southport & Ainsdale Golf Club on Friday 18th March. The weather conditions were extremely kind to us, especially for a links course at this time of year; a stark contrast to this time last year when we were buffeted by 50mph winds at Royal Liverpool. A cool breeze and overcast skies cleared the way at noon to make way for a little sunshine for the players to enjoy – just as arranged by the Secretary!
We had 28
members and 9 guests in attendance.
The
course, host to the Ryder Cup in 1933, was in good condition, the greens
especially so. It presented a stern challenge to all the players; however this
did not stop George Hogan winning the H&R JOHNSON TROPHY with an excellent
37 points.
