The Lionel Ramus Trophy

The 109th meeting of TIGS, and the 2nd of the season, was held at Wallasey Golf Club on Wednesday 22nd April 2009.The weather as always for our events was fantastically sunny and very warm with a sea breeze making for excellent day.

It was TIGS first visit to Wallasey and certainly not our last, what a hidden gem of a golf course, all the member who attended all commented that Wallasey was up there with the best courses they have played. Wallasey is a tuff links course with the sea breeze swirling around making club selection very difficult, the greens were running at 11.5 on the stimp meter (Augusta on a Sunday are 12) so putting was quite challenging. The views on some of the holes were breathtaking. The Staff were really friendly and welcoming. I would strongly recommend those members not attending do next time we visit Wallasey as you missed out this time.

17 members and 12 guests competed for The Lionel Ramus Trophy, the winner with a brilliant score of 38 points was Mick Boulton.2nd with a good score of 37 points was Mike Linwood beating 3rd placed John Holcroft also with 37 points on the back 9, and 4th on 36 points was Simon Leary.
