The Michael Heath Trophy |

2004.
The
77th meeting of TIGS was held at The Oxfordshire G.C. on Friday August 20th
in challenging conditions with heavy rainstorms and gusting wind. What a
contrast to last year’s 100 degrees temperatures.
23
members and 11 guests competed for The Michael Heath Trophy with John
MacLaughlin coming home the winner with 40pts; his second win of the season
having won the first event at Royal Liverpool. Not surprisingly his handicap is
reduced to 8. Second on 39pts was Chris Harris whose handicap is reduced
to 14. Third was Simon Leary with 34pts, Fourth was Ron Austin on
33pts and Fifth Gary Moffat on 32pts, beating Stephen Haigh with a
better back nine.
Winning
visitor was Paul Butcher’s guest John Holcroft with 37pts beating Steve
McCall’s guest Chris Powell on 33pts.
Nearest
the pin prizes were won by Stephen Haigh and Gary Moffat. Stephen
Haigh’s guest Andy Boyle won longest drive. No Yellow Ball scores were
returned!
Peter
Austin’s hip replacement was reported to be a success and we look forward to
seeing him back in action soon.
As
I was unable to attend due to my wife’s ill health my thanks must go to Ashley
Heath, Geoff Snape, and Dave Nelson for running the day and Mick
Boulton for standing in for our captain who was also absent.
The
next meeting is the closed invitation event – The Harvey Chew Memorial Trophy.
