The 82^nd meeting of TIGS, and the third of our 17^th season, was held at Rye Hill Golf Club on Friday 10^th June. Despite the BBC’s (and the Secretary’s) weather forecast of a high sun index, the sun did not put in an appearance until mid-afternoon. Up until then a cool breeze had kept the temperatures down, however most importantly – it stayed dry.  

We had 18 members and 2 guests in attendance.  

The course, at 6739yds, was a good test of golf. The greens were a little disappointing because they were slower than one would expect for this time of year, but this did not stop Mike Linwood winning the MICHAEL HEATH TROPHY with 32 points.  

2^nd place was taken by Simon Leary, also with 32 points, but a lesser back nine. 3^rd was Geoff Snape (30 points), 4^th was Michael Heath (27 points), 5^th was Gary Hardy with 26 points.  

Mike has his handicap reduced from 13 to 10. Simon’s handicap is reduced from 14 to 12.  

Winning visitor was Alan Pullen’s guest Wayne Spilsbury with 19 points. Wayne ’s handicap is reduced from 16 to 13.  

The yellow ball prize went to Messrs Heath, Heath, Snape and Leary with 29 points.  

Nearest the pin prizes were won by new member Jon Hall (12^th hole) and Mike Linwood (17^th hole). The longest drive competition was won by Simon Leary on the 8^th hole.  

The 9-hole morning competition (actually 10 holes to be correct) was won by Ashley Heath with 24 points.  

The next TIGS event is at Notts Golf Club (Hollinwell) on Friday July 8^th. Don’t miss it!
