The Michael Heath Trophy

The 110th meeting of TIGS, and the 3rd of the season, was held at Coventry Golf Club on Thursday 14th May 2009.The weather was overcast with the forecast for rain, but again we got lucky although the sun didn’t shine we managed to stay dry in the hot humid conditions.

It was TIGS first visit to Coventry, which is an open qualifier. The course is very interesting with a few doglegs and water in play on some holes, making it really important to plot your way around. The greens were a bit tricky with a few subtle burrows and quite fast.

The staff at Coventry were very welcoming and obliging and the catering was first class making it an ideal society venue.

17 members and 3 guests competed for The Michael Heath Trophy, the winner with a reasonable score of 37points was Simon Leary.2nd with a score of 33 points was Captain Tony Rogers beating 3rd placed Ian Webber also with 33 points on the back 9.

Simon’s handicap is reduced from 12 to 9, while Tony’s handicap is down from 17 to 15 (BOOOOOO).

The winning visitor was our Captain Tony Roger’s guest Tony Dibden with 30 points.
